Renovation Consultation
Expert design guidance when renovating — for a home that feels right, long after the renovation is complete
Renovating a home is rarely short of ideas — but it is often short of reassurance. This service is designed for homeowners who want confidence that the structure, layout and key decisions are right before moving forward.
Renovation Consultations can be booked at any stage of a renovation — before work begins, while plans are being developed, or mid-project when decisions need sense-checking.
Who this is for
This consultation is ideal if you are:
Planning a renovation, extension or reconfiguration and want to sense-check your ideas before committing
Mid-renovation and facing decisions that feel complex, rushed or uncertain
Feeling overwhelmed by choices and want a calm, experienced, objective perspective
Reviewing architect drawings and unsure if the layout truly works day-to-day
About to plan a kitchen or bathroom and want to get the layout right before moving into detailed design or build
Feeling overwhelmed by choices and want an experienced, objective perspective
Many clients come to me having spent weeks — sometimes months — thinking things through. They don’t need more opinions; they need clarity and confidence to move forward.
Making sense of the layout
When a layout doesn’t feel quite right — or there are too many options — I help you step back and see what will work best day-to-day.
Kitchen planning decisions
Sense-checking kitchen layouts, workflows and key decisions before you commit to cabinetry, appliances or suppliers.
Storage and maximising space
Identifying where storage is most useful, spotting wasted or underused space, and discussing ways to make better use of it — without the home feeling overfilled or compromised.
What the consultation focuses on
This is not an open-ended design meeting. We agree the focus in advance, based on where you are in your renovation and the specific decisions you’re currently facing.
Improving flow and connection
Looking at how spaces relate to one another, where transitions feel awkward or disconnected, and discussing ways to improve how the home flows and feels as a whole.
Bathroom layout decisions
Reviewing bathroom layouts and spatial decisions to ensure they’re practical, comfortable and well thought-through before moving ahead.
What to decide now — and what can wait
Helping prioritise decisions, avoid costly mistakes, and understand what really matters at this stage of the renovation.
The aim is confidence and direction — not finished designs or more options for the sake of it.
01
Pre-consultation review
I review the information you send in advance — drawings, photos, sketches and key questions — so our time together is focused, productive and centred on the decisions that matter most.
What’s included
This is a considered process — not a single conversation or an open-ended design session.
02
Two hour consultation
An in-depth session (in person or online) where we work through the agreed focus, explore relevant options, and discuss the implications of different choices.
You leave with a stronger understanding of your home, clear priorities, and confidence about how to move forward.
03
One hour studio follow-up
After the consultation, I step back from the detail to consolidate what we discussed, clarify priorities, and define clear next steps.
Design development — exploring options and shaping the details
For some projects, the consultation provides everything needed to move forward with confidence.
For others, it highlights areas where more detailed design input would be helpful — particularly where layouts, options or key decisions still need to be worked through.
These design services often follow an initial consultation, or can be booked whenever you need support resolving specific design elements.
Kitchen Spatial Planning & Concept Design
Developing a well-resolved kitchen layout and concept at an early stage, helping builders and kitchen suppliers provide more accurate quotes and supporting the best possible outcome for layout, functionality and overall style.
Interior Room Scheme & Styling Concept
Creating a cohesive, practical design concept for a single room where more clarity or direction is needed, helping bring the space together with confidence.
Bathroom Spatial Planning & Concept Design
Refining bathroom layouts and key spatial decisions before builders’ quotes are sought, helping ensure the space is well thought through and avoiding costly changes later.
Garden & Outdoor Living Concept Design
Developing a clear garden or outdoor living concept that complements your home and supports how you want to use the space.
Not every project needs all of these. Part of the consultation is understanding how much support would be helpful, and where you feel confident moving forward on your own.
